Yukon, Marvin will bring an “insider’s view” vital to effective ministry outreach to Alaska’s Native peoples. Discipling Native believers and sending them into the world with the Gospel was at the heart of our original vision for YWAM in Alaska. We would love, at this season in which we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection, to see God “resurrect” that focus! Please pray with us that He will bring others alongside whom He has chosen to help carry the vision into the future!

Also coming onto the board is Barb Wallace (wife of Ken and one of the co-founders of YWAM Alaska back in 1997). As the day-by-day keeper of YWAM’s books She has now agreed to serve in a more “official” capacity as a voting member and Board Secretary.

Over the last six weeks various inquiries had come our way from groups indicating they wished to utilize Our Father’s House for short-term stays this summer. Hallelujah! Right? Then, one by one, all let us know their plans had changed and they would not be coming our way after all. Fertile ground for seeds of discouragement? Could be; but we have chosen to sow seeds of faith, instead, speaking blessings of growth and fruitfulness and a full house over the ministry. (If you are curious where we are getting our inspiration for this from, we recommend reading The Power of Blessing by Kerry Kirkwood!). Happily, there are now two different Korean groups from California who also have expressed the desire to spend some time with us, come summer, and we have every reason to believe their intentions are firm! Whatever the case, we declare that the plans and purposes of God for this, His property and His ministry, are “for good and not for evil” (Jeremiah 29:11) and will come into fulfillment in His perfect timing!

On the surface, not a lot has yet changed where the ministry’s financial needs are concerned. The growing debt to our fuel supplier can seem like a formidable “mountain” in our eyes. In the face of this we are choosing to proclaim that “Our God is bigger and His name is Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides!” Even as this was being written an unexpected financial gift arrived in the mail! From the book The Power of Blessing, page 62, we are reminded that, if we will trust God, then “like Zerubbabel and Zechariah, we can shout to our mountains: Where are you, O Great Mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” (KJV) The New International Version states it this way: “Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerrubabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: ‘May God bless it! May God bless it!’”(Zech. 4:7)

Interestingly, some years ago when Ken was feeling discouraged and was receiving prayer, God brought the following passage from Zechariah 4:9 to mind to declare over him: “Zerrubabel is the one who laid the foundation of this Temple, and he will complete it.” (NIV) Perhaps this is why the preceding passages so easily cause faith to arise in our hearts!

We are believing for our “mountain of debt” to be leveled! Not simply the fuel bill debt but the mortgage, as well! Nothing is impossible for our generous and faithful Heavenly Father! We want to see the funds now going toward bank loan interest and ever-increasing utility bills be available, instead, for advancing the Gospel and helping others who find themselves in desperate financial need in these challenging times. Will you believe with us? There is power in the prayer of agreement! Thank you! If you also feel led to participate in leveling that debt mountain, your gift may be sent to the following address:

Youth With A Mission

1832 Chena Hot Springs Rd.

Fairbanks, AK

YWAM Fairbanks began establishing relationships in Minto as early as 1999, when one of our Norwegian staff members--Arne Jortveit--began living there part-time. Arne then spent 4-5 years as a fulltime resident of Minto, occasionally joined for a season by other short-term YWAM staff. While there Arne's focus was "friendship evangelism" and, in light of such, just served, loved on, prayed with, played with and worked alongside the village residents. Arne's legacy of love is evident as the Minto folks express how much they miss him and ask when he might return! (IRS regulations forced Arne to return home to Scandinavia a few years back, where an unexpected blessing awaited...a BRIDE!)

<span style=" z-index: 10; "Stakes" attached to trees at each corner offered a summary statement from which our prayers and declarations for the future sprang forth. How awesome it is to know that our words have spiritual power to positively affect the environment in which we live! Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..."
